The Breakfast and Brunch Express, Issue #17 Coffeecake Recipes
November 06, 2007
Hello!

This month: Coffeecake Recipes

In this issue of the Breakfast and Brunch Express, find some old-fashioned coffeecake recipes that will have you reminiscing about simpler days when it was okay to take a break and chat with friends. Hopefully, with the holidays right around the corner, you will find a few extra minutes to talk with your neighbor or a friend you haven't seen in a while.

Sitting down with a sweet piece of cake and a warm beverage has always been a hospitable way to share some time together with those persons in your life that you just don't get to see a lot of anymore. It is also a delicious addition to a weekend brunch menu.

Coffeecakes are usually made up of a cake base combined with fruit and sometimes nuts. The idea of having a piece of cake with your coffee for breakfast or brunch is certainly nothing new, but seems to have fallen by the wayside in favor of pre-packaged goodies and expensive cups of coffee. These recipes go together quickly and easily and just might give you an incentive to invite a neighbor over to chat.

Coffeecakes

Easy Coffeecake Recipe Easy Coffeecake: A quick and easy coffeecake to make when company is coming on short notice. This sweet cake is topped with a crunchy brown sugar and chopped pecan topping and drizzled with a bit of vanilla sauce over the warm cake.

Crumb Coffeecake

Crumb Coffeecake: This is one of my favorite recipes. It is a moist cake with a tender crumb topping that just tastes like an old-fashioned cake should. It is made with the good stuff like eggs, milk, butter, and sugar. Serve this as part of a holiday brunch menu.

Peach Cobbler

Peach Cobbler: While a cobbler is quite a bit different than a coffeecake, I couldn't resist sharing this recipe with you. It is sooo good! Serve this plain with a cup of coffee or tea or use it as a dessert by dressing it with a splash of cream or a scoop of ice cream. Quick and easy with only 15 minutes prep time.

Fruit Cocktail Coffeecake Fruit Cocktail Coffeecake: This is a fun recipe that both children and adults will love! Made with canned fruit cocktail and topped with a cream cheese frosting, this sweet cake can be served for brunch, an afternoon coffee or as a dessert.
