This month: Holiday Drink Recipes

With the holidays in full swing, entertaining seems to take center stage. Aside from the food, drinks also play a role in a well rounded meal.

Below is a selection of drink recipes that use alcohol like the punch recipes and some that do not like the wassail. Some, such as the eggnog recipe can be made either way. I have also included some links to other websites below that have a nice selection of holiday drinks to make your Christmas brunch or party just a bit more special.

Holiday Drink Recipes

Eggnog: A wonderful recipe for homemade eggnog made with whole milk, real cream, eggs, nutmeg, and rum. (Don't worry, if you do not drink alcohol, you can substitute rum flavoring and it will still taste wonderful.)

Although filling, it is a delicious treat for a Christmas brunch party or New Year's Eve party.
Wassail: A delicious mulled spiced cider made with tea, juices of apple, orange, pineapple, and lemon along with cinnamon, cloves, and allspice (non-alcoholic).

This is a wonderful hot drink to serve when the weather is cold and blustery. Because you make it in a kettle on the stove, your whole house will be filled with the wonderful aroma of the wassail. What a nice way to greet your guests.
Christmas Punch: A festive Christmas punch recipe made with Southern Comfort, 7-Up, lemon juice, orange juice, and lemonade and red food coloring.

This is a good tasting alcoholic punch that is a nice treat for serving at a holiday party. It is simple to make and looks festive with some garland or fresh cranberries around the bottom of the punch bowl.


Party Punch: An easy party punch recipe to serve for a Christmas party or holiday brunch. This alcoholic punch is made with Southern Comfort, and juices of pineapple, grapefruit, and lemon.


Brandy Slush: A delicious frozen drink made with orange juice, lemonade, green tea and 7-Up. Mix with your favorite liquor like brandy, whiskey or vodka. Guests can make their own drinks and adjust the taste by how much 7-Up they add.
