Cinnamon
syrup is made with ground cinnamon, vanilla, and brown sugar and cooked
into a sweet syrup. Serve this homemade syrup over pancakes, waffles, or
French toast for breakfast or brunch.
This
cinnamon sauce can also be drizzled on top of vanilla ice cream,
crepes, pound cake or bread
pudding for an
absolutely delicious treat.
The brown sugar in
this syrup recipe forms a rich brown sauce with little specks of
cinnamon throughout. Serve it warm on top of your favorite dessert or
sweet breakfast dish.
1/4 cup granulated sugar 1/4 cup
packed brown sugar 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour 1/4
teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2
cup water

Instructions:
Step
1: Stir together the white sugar, brown sugar,
flour, and
cinnamon in a small saucepan.
Step
2: Stir in vanilla extract
and water. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring often.
Continue to boil and stir until mixture thickens to
syrup consistency, approximately 8-10 minutes. Do not overcook the
syrup.
Step
3: Remove from heat; cool 10 minutes
before serving.
Serve over
pancakes, French toast, waffles, crepes, bread pudding or ice cream.
