Issue #30 A Fall Brunch Menu |
This month: A Fall Brunch Menu
Hello Everyone! The beginning of fall brings to mind the flavors of crisp fall apples, pumpkin, raisins, and cinnamon. It also seems to be a time of renewed interest in some of the heartier brunch foods that may have not been made during the warm summer months. Brunch foods like pancakes, waffles, breakfast casseroles, and French toast start reappearing, flavored with cinnamon along with fall fruits like apple and pumpkin. Below are a selection of brunch and breakfast recipes that just seem to feel like fall to me. Apples and Cheddar cheese complement each other very well so for example, if your are going to serve the Cheddar baked eggs, a nice companion would be the breakfast fruit compote. To decorate your fall brunch table, start with a beautiful linen tablecloth, perhaps with the colors of pumpkin, cinnamon spice, sage green, or cream. A floral cloth using some of these colors would be beautiful as well. Add some pumpkin spice or vanilla candles and perhaps a bouquet of cut fall flowers such as mums in colors of gold, orange, and violet for an accent. Surround them with a ring of real autumn leaves from your yard or neighborhood. There is nothing like bringing a little bit of the outdoors inside to add to the look and feel you are trying to create. For a homespun look, a fall wall hanging near the table with scarecrows and pumpkins can complete the look. Fall is a wonderful time of year to enjoy a relaxing meal with friends and family.
