Homemade Pancake Recipe

Homemade Pancakes This made from scratch homemade pancake recipe is light and fluffy because it uses fresh buttermilk. Serve these pancakes for breakfast or brunch and top with real butter, pure maple syrup, or jams and preserves.

These pancakes will become a family favorite. They mix up quickly and you can have homemade flapjacks on the table in about 30 minutes or so. With this recipe you can become a pro at making pancakes. Serve this pancake recipe with fresh fruit, cooked sausage links or patties, and coffee for a simple brunch menu.

Preparation Time:  15 minutes 

Cooking Time:  30 minutes

Ingredient List:

2 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup shortening or butter
1 egg, beaten
2-1/2 cups buttermilk

Kitchen Equipment Needed

Medium mixing bowl
Frying pan or griddle

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat griddle or frying pan to medium heat.

Step 2: In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.

Step 3: Cut in shortening or butter.

Step 4: Add the beaten egg and fresh buttermilk and mix until smooth.

Step 5: Fry on a hot griddle or frying pan.

Serves 4.
