Spiced Oatmeal with Cashews

OatmealSpiced oatmeal with cashews is a delicious oatmeal recipe made with cinnamon, cardamom, cashews, milk, and butter.

Also known as porridge, these spiced instant rolled oats make a hearty breakfast or brunch treat that will warm you up on a cold winter morning.

The flavors of cinnamon and cardamom add a pleasing scent and the cashews give this porridge a nice amount of crunch. It is sweetened with a bit of honey or sugar.

This breakfast recipe is quick, easy, and ready to eat in about 5 minutes. It doesn't get much simpler than that!

I want to thank David from Australia for taking the time to submit this recipe. I made it and it was delicious! I would not have thought about adding cashews, but is tastes wonderful and was very pleased with the result.

Cooking Time: 3 minutes

Ingredient List:

1 cup rolled oats (quick cooking instant oats)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
2-1/2 cups milk
pinch of salt
knob of butter*
sugar or honey to taste
handful of unsalted cashews

Kitchen Equipment Needed

Medium Saucepan

Instructions:

Throw all the ingredients in a saucepan, bring to boil, simmer for 2-3 minutes. Serve hot.

*A knob of butter is roughly two tablespoons, more or less.

Makes 2 generous servings.
