pancake and waffle syrups

The best part of making and eating waffles, French Toast, and pancakes is the wonderful variety of syrups, jams, jellies and toppings that you can pour over the top!

Before you get to the sweet stuff, make sure to have real dairy butter on the table. Nothing tastes better than real butter on waffles and pancakes.

To be accommodating, you may have a second choice available, such as margarine, to those who cannot have real dairy butter due to health reasons. Other spreads that can be used on pancakes and waffles are as follows:

Honey cinnamon butter spread

Strawberry butter

Orange butter

Pancake and Waffle Syrups

Homemade Waffles

The classic standard for pouring over waffles, French Toast, and pancakes is of course, maple syrup. Buy the real stuff if you can. It really tastes so much better than what is commercially available. If you are in a pinch and need to stretch your pancake syrup, mix some light or dark corn syrup in and no one will hardly be able to tell the difference.

Experiment with other popular flavors of pancake and waffle syrups such as:

Cinnamon syrup

Apple cider syrup

Strawberry syrup

Blueberry sauce

Any of thesae pancake and waffle syrups are great choices to add a special flavor to your morning treat.

Looking for something different? Try a caramel dessert sauce on your pancakes or waffles and complement it with a fruit side dish of fresh pears. Delicious!

Or how about trying hot fudge sauce on your waffle or crepe? Who knows? You just might like it better than maple syrup!

Jams and preserves are also great as a topping for pancakes and waffles. Just add 3 Tablespoons butter to 8 ounces of jam or jelly and heat to warm. Stir until it is of a spoonable consistency. All are a wonderful alternative to maple syrup.

Be sure to have real whipped cream on hand. The extra 10 minutes it takes to whip the cream will be well worth the compliments your receive!

For even more variety try sliced fruit toppings such as bananas, kiwi fruit, mango, or papaya. Drizzle with maple syrup and get ready for the complements.

Dusting your pancake, crepe, French toast or waffle with powdered sugar finishes your creation and a garnish of fresh fruit or mint leaves always brightens the plate as well.
