Spiced Chunky Pineapple Sauce



Pineapple Slices Spiced chunky pineapple sauce is made with canned pineapple chunks, cinnamon, sugar, and cloves. Just a touch of cinnamon, sugar, and cloves makes this spiced pineapple sauce a wonderful treat for breakfast or brunch.

Serve this fruit recipe as a side dish for breakfast or brunch cold or warm with ham and eggs. This sauce is also good with quiches, omelets and breakfast casseroles.

Don't forget the quick breads or coffee cake to round out your meal. Your family and guests will be delighted! This is an easy pineapple recipe that can be served warm or cold depending on what else your are serving that day.

Spiced Chunky Pineapple Sauce

Breakfast and Brunch Serving Ideas

Serve this spiced pineapple recipe with a delicious Golden Onion Quiche or a Ham and Egg Breakfast Casserole.

Ingredient List:

2-20 ounce cans pineapple chunks
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup cider vinegar
8 whole cloves (or 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves)
1 cinnamon stick
dash of salt

Kitchen Equipment Needed

Medium sauce pan

Instructions:

Step 1: Drain pineapple juice from the cans into a medium saucepan. Set pineapple chunks aside.
Step 2: Add the sugar, cider vinegar, cloves, cinnamon stick, and salt to the syrup in the sauce pan and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Add pineapple chunks back to the mixture. Heat to boiling and the sauce starts to thicken.
Step 4: Remove from heat and cool.
Step 5: Serve in dessert sauce dishes.
Serves 4-6. Can be served warm or cold.
