Sheperds Pie Recipe



This sheperds pie recipe is made with ground beef, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, diced tomatoes and cheddar cheese.

Also known as shepherds pie or poor man's pie, this is a quick and easy potato recipe that can be prepared quickly.

Serve this hearty meat and potato pie for breakfast or brunch.

This recipe also works well for an after work dinner.

Breakfast and Brunch Serving Ideas:

Serve these sheperds pie with a delicous colby cheese fruit salad or spiced pineapple sauce.

Colby Cheese Fruit Salad

Spiced Pineapple Sauce

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Bake Time: 20 minutes

Ingredient List:

1 lb. ground beef
1 yellow onion, chopped
1 (10 oz.) can diced tomatoes
Salt and pepper
1 (16 oz.) can mixed vegetables, drained
4 med. potatoes, cooked and mashed
1 c. cheddar cheese, grated

Kitchen Equipment Needed

Frying Pan Round or oval casserole baking dish, oven safe

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: In a frying pan or skillet, brown ground beef. Drain any excess fat from the ground beef.

Step 3: In your casserole dish, combine the diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, mixed vegetables and ground beef mixture.

Step 4: Top with mashed potatoes and shredded cheddar cheese.

Step 5: Bake uncovered at 350 degrees until the cheese melts, about 15 to 20 minutes.

This is a good make ahead casserole recipe that freezes well.
