6 large green bell peppers 1 cup
cooked rice 1/2 pound cooked ground beef 2
Tablespoons chopped onion 2 Tablespoons chopped celery 2
Tablespoons butter 1/3 cup hot water 3/4 cup
stewed tomatoes

Crumbs:
1/2 cup bread crumbs 1/4
cup butter

Instructions:
Step 1: In a
medium bowl, mix together the rice, ground beef, celery, butter, water,
and tomatoes.
Step
2:
Wash and dry the bell peppers. Cut out the stem end of the pepper.
Scoop out the seed and membrane.
Step
3: Parboil or steam the peppers for 2 minutes.
Step
4: Drain and stuff with the beef and rice mixture.
Step
5: Top each with buttered bread crumbs.
Step
6:
Stand the peppers in a shallow baking pan or casserole dish. If the
peppers don't stand level, trim a thin slice off of the bottom to make
them level.
Step 7:
Bake at 350 degree oven for about 40 minutes, then increase the heat to
400 degrees for 5 minutes more to brown the bread crumb topping.
