Wassail Recipe
Wassail is a spiced mulled cider that is made from tea,
juices of apple, orange, pineapple, and lemon along with cinnamon,
cloves, and allspice. Serve this spiced cider in winter as a
hot drink. It is usually associated with Christmas and the holiday
season. The flavors of apple, orange, and pineapple blend with the aromatic spices of cinnamon, cloves, and allspice will fill your home with the warm aromas of the holidays. Turn on a bit of music and listen to the carols being played and enjoy a hot mug of delicious homemade spiced cider.This wassail recipe is a nice choice for a hot non-alcoholic drink. Photo © og-vision from www.bigstockphotos.com Wassail RecipePrep Time: 10 minutesCooking Time: 15 minutes Ingredient List: ----------------------------- 1 teaspoon whole allspice ----------------------------- Kitchen Equipment Needed Large kettle Instructions: Step 1: Tie allspice, cinnamon, and whole cloves in a cheesecloth bag. Step 2: In a large kettle, heat the apple cider along with the spice bag. Step 3: Pour hot tea over sugar to dissolve and combine in the kettle with cider. Step 4: Add the orange, pineapple, and lemon juices to the cider. Heat through, but do not boil. Step 5: Remove the spice bag. Step 5: Add room temperature ginger ale just before serving. Ladle into cups for serving. Serves 20-25 (5-6 ounce servings). If you are not having as many guests, cut this recipe in half.
